Greetings from the Royal Selangor Club Kuala Lumpur. It gives us great pleasure to invite your club to participate in the 9th RSC Hockey 9s, which will be played on grass at our Bukit Kiara premises.
As in the past, participation in this tournament is via invitation only. We hope to ensure that clubs participating are willing to adhere at all times a right balance of fun and hockey. We hope to attract clubs both local and overseas to enjoy our hospitality while indulging in some great hockey matches. The following paragraphs will provide you with some useful information regarding the tournament.
TOURNAMENT
The tournament will commence at 9.00 a.m. on Saturday, 17th July and conclude by 5.00 p.m. on Sunday, 18th July. The tournament briefing which is compulsory for all Managers will be held on Saturday, 17th July at 8.00 a.m. at the Padang of our Bukit Kiara premises.
ENTRANCE FEE
The entrance fee is RM800 for local teams or US$275 for foreign terms, payable in advance by Monday, 1st June. The entrance fee will cover your participation in the tournament and the Tournament Dinner for 12 players and 1 Manager per team.
DINNER AND DANCE
The Tournament Dinner and Dance will be held on Saturday, 17th July at 7.00 p.m. at the Padang, in front of the clubhouse at our Bukit Kiara premises.
Additional tickets for the Tournament Dinner and Dance can be purchased at RM50 either during the tournament briefing or by latest 12 noon on Saturday, 17th July.
MODE OF COMPETITION
Currently, we are hoping to limit the participation to 24 teams in the Men’s category and 12 teams in the Ladies category. The League competition for the Men’s and Ladies will comprise 4 groups and 2 groups of 6 teams respectively. The top two teams will move into the Cup Competition, the next two into the Plate Competition and the remaining two into the Bowl Competition. The competition at this stage will be played on a knock-out basis. The mode of competition may be modified depending on the final number of participating teams.
PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the Champions and Runner-up at the Cup Competition level and Champions of the remaining competitions.
REGISTRATION
Teams interested in participating in the tournament will be required to submit their entry form by Monday, 1st June. Each team will be allowed to register 12 players and 1 Manager.
RULES
All matches will be played in accordance with the FIH rules modified by the tournament rules. The tournament rules will be provided to the Managers at the tournament briefing. In addition, each team will be required to complete an indemnity form at the tournament briefing.
