Happy New Year Folks!

Another year almost done and dusted... Plenty of drama and a roller coaster year for Malaysia overall, but RSC hockey section continues to keep our weekly sessions going (almost without fail).

A big thanks to all those involved in ensuring that the budgets are approved, fields are booked, games arranged, drinks available and all the little errands that needs to be done to ensure an enjoyable hockey playing session every week.

2016 is said to be an even more challenging year.

RSC hockey committee wishes all our section members a very happy new year and all the best going forward into 2016!

KL Bar Games 2015

Hot blistering day for a hockey game but 11 players turned up at Kiara Sports Annexe for the annual KL Bar games.

0-1 down at half time due to a penalty corner goal, the old dogs came back with a goal each from Alex and Jindy to put RSC in the lead.

We held on to win and a reward of bragging rights for another year... Although we never really win against lawyers do we!

See you guys again next year!

KLHA league table

8 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses.

Note : We won our last game 4-2 vs HELP University

Last game of the KLHA league

The last league game for this season was played on 5th August 2015 at the KLHA stadium against HELP University and it was one of the rare occasions where we had more than sufficient players.

I guess everyone wanted a piece of hockey action before the league ends!

For most part of the game, RSC managed to control the play but we let in 2 penalty corner goals, and ended the game 4-2 victors!

Thanks to Jay Ooi who 'sealed the game in cement' (in his own words) with the 4th and final goal of the season!

The customary makan-makan at the end of the season followed with the usual beers and 100Plus, and meehoon Siam sponsored by James Andrew, as well as some delicious samosas and popiahs compliments from Bernard Gomez!

All players reported safely back home before midnight!

Until next season... Majulah Hoki Untuk RSC!

Friendly Match with Bancroft's School

RSC hosted Bancroft's School from UK on 2nd August 2015 at KLHA stadium, followed by poolside dinner at RSC Kiara.

The young boys were too fit and fast for the old RSC Dogs, and we lost narrowly 3-4.

But that didn't dampen the 'spirits' that night!

KLHA Division 4 League 2015 has begun!

The KLHA Division 4 league kicked-off for RSC this evening.

Our first game was against the young and energetic 1MAS/KL U-16 side.

It was certainly a youth vs experience challenge, and tonight youth triumphed with a 7-1 margin.

The scorer of RSC's solitary goal was Sambu!

Nonetheless some things never change... Like the post-match sessions! Cheers!

Interport with Penang Sports Club - 24 Jan 2015

The first interport of the year and it was against our old friends from Penang. With 3 goalkeepers at their disposal, PSC came well prepared to defend their goal, as well as their camouflage jersey, which made them difficult to spot against the blue turf!

The game was played in 4 quarters. RSC quickly took the lead with a field goal by Niki Poon, followed by another goal through a short corner, again by Niki.
(I just found out today that it's spelt as NIKI!)

We thought we had the game all wrapped up... But by the 2nd quarter, PSC had struck back with 2 goals, bringing the score level at 2-2.

Unfortunately, PSC began to run out of steam, whilst RSC's 19 players kept rotating to put pressure of the tiring opponents.

By the 3rd quarter, RSC was up 4-2 with goals from Praba and Bernard. But PSC were still pressing and threatening our goal with Harcharanjit Singh orchestrating the moves from midfield.

Thanks to great work from our defense, notably Mohan and Baldwin, we held on and managed to tuck in 2 more goals in the final quarter, contributed by Niki, completing his hattrick, and Praba.

The goalscorers!

6-2 it was at the final whistle and both teams proceeded to Kiara poolside for the merry-making!

The usual formalities were dispensed and a boat race was held in the tradition of our interport games.

It was a close call, but RSC prevailed in a photo finish! Terima kasih Cikgu Tan Chin Chin for officiating the boat race.

We take this opportunity to also thank PSC for making it for this interport game. It's been a pleasure hosting you guys and see you next year in Penang!
