The first interport of the year and it was against our old friends from Penang. With 3 goalkeepers at their disposal, PSC came well prepared to defend their goal, as well as their camouflage jersey, which made them difficult to spot against the blue turf!
The game was played in 4 quarters. RSC quickly took the lead with a field goal by Niki Poon, followed by another goal through a short corner, again by Niki.
(I just found out today that it's spelt as NIKI!)
We thought we had the game all wrapped up... But by the 2nd quarter, PSC had struck back with 2 goals, bringing the score level at 2-2.
Unfortunately, PSC began to run out of steam, whilst RSC's 19 players kept rotating to put pressure of the tiring opponents.
By the 3rd quarter, RSC was up 4-2 with goals from Praba and Bernard. But PSC were still pressing and threatening our goal with Harcharanjit Singh orchestrating the moves from midfield.
Thanks to great work from our defense, notably Mohan and Baldwin, we held on and managed to tuck in 2 more goals in the final quarter, contributed by Niki, completing his hattrick, and Praba.
6-2 it was at the final whistle and both teams proceeded to Kiara poolside for the merry-making!
The usual formalities were dispensed and a boat race was held in the tradition of our interport games.
It was a close call, but RSC prevailed in a photo finish! Terima kasih Cikgu Tan Chin Chin for officiating the boat race.
We take this opportunity to also thank PSC for making it for this interport game. It's been a pleasure hosting you guys and see you next year in Penang!
