12th RSC Hockey 9s tournament (5-6 Oct 2013)

We are just 5 days away from our annual RSC 9s tournament!

See you guys at Kiara Sports Annexe this coming weekend for some hockey, food, drinks and catching up with fellow hockey players. 

Sultan of Johor Cup - Finals

The Malaysian team made it to the finals of the Sultan of Johor Cup, meeting the impressive Indian team that tore apart Pakistan earlier in the tournament.

India proved to be the superior team in the finals. They were more deadly in the 'D' and counter attacks, winning 3-0, despite the valiant effort by our keeper.

Argentina took 3rd placing.

The Sultan of Johor Cup 2013 (U-21)

The Sultan of Johor Cup 2013 is being played from 22-28 September 2013.

Participating teams are :

1. Argentina

3. India

4. Korea

5. Malaysia

6. Pakistan

All matches are played at the Taman Daya hockey stadium, Johor Baru.

Makan Trip to Kuala Selangor.... AGAIN!

Despite the lack of hockey activity due to the closure of Tun Razak stadium, the eating continues... And so, on 21 September 2013, yet another makan trip was organized.

The makan party met up at Kiara on a sunny Saturday morning and headed to Kuala Selangor - which seemed to be becoming a favorite makan haunt!

James Sia led the group consisting Alex (James's son), Dato Poon, Bobby Ho, Capt Azman and the Teh sisters. The usual shopping for fresh fish ensued, resulting in several cooler boxes filled with seafood, followed by a wonderful lunch by the river.

We should do this more often!

KLHA League 'kicks' off!

20 September 2013 saw our first league game for 2013 vs the Sukma Ladies at Pantai blue turf at 7pm.

Within minutes, we were back-pedaling from the fit and fast ladies and were soon down by 2 goals. Stunned into action, we attacked with more purpose with Bobby Ho and Alex Voon on the wings, and Colin and Nicky Poon playing through the middle of the field. The first half ended 3-3 and several changes were made as some tired legs were starting to show.

Having reserved all their energy in the first 9 months of the year, Charles, Siva and Terence took the field in the 2nd half! The defense stabilized after a shaky first half and the game started to move in our favor. Colin, Dato' Poon and Jay were moving the ball up-field at a more purposeful pace, creating more attacking play.

Nicky Poon went on a rampage and ended the game as the top scorer with 4 goals. It was also nice to see Alex 'The Pacemaker' Voon scoring a goal in the game,

Final score : RSC 8 - Sukma Ladies 3.

 Not bad for our first game of the season. The usual post-game drinks and 'reflection' followed... 

Looking forward to the next game vs Kilat Club!

RSC will be taking part in the KLHA Division 4A tournament this year.

12th RSC Hockey 9s tournament (5-6 Oct 2013)

This year our 12th RSC Hockey 9s tournament is scheduled for 5-6 October on the traditional grass pitch at RSC Kiara Sports Annexe, with the junior tournament on 4 October (Friday afternoon) at the same venue.

With the usual balance of good fun and hockey, the tournament has always been one of the highlights in the hockey calendar with our friends throughout the country and affiliate clubs.

We hope to see participation from clubs, both local and overseas, and to enjoy our hospitality while indulging in some great hockey action.  

1. Volunteers

a) Junior Tournament (4 Oct 2013, Friday)

We need at least 8 volunteers for the junior tournament that will be held on the Friday, 4 Oct 1pm onwards till evening, to manage the 4 fields.

 

b) RSC 9s (5-6 Oct 2013, Sat~ Sun)

Volunteers also required to support the administration during the tournament e.g. runners, scorers, general admin etc. and must be available for the full days, to ensure smooth running of the tournament.

 

 

2. Players

All players interested to play in our RSC 9s are to contact Colin Sta Maria via email at colin.stamaria@cimb.com by this week, so that we may organise the teams accordingly.

Upcoming Tournaments and Events

Despite the closing of the Tun Razak stadium for the next couple of months, we have many tournaments in the next couple of months!

1. Hockey Section Makan Trip (21 Sept, Sat)

All are invited for this makan trip (self-funded).

 

 

Meet at Kiara at 10am with an empty stomach, and we will carpool to the makan venue - possibly K.Selangor, Sekinchan or T.Tualang.... or any other suggestions by the eating party on that day.

 

 

Our makan trips have always been fun and 'fulfilling', so make it a point to join us!

 

 

2. KL Bar Games (28 Sept, Sat, Kiara Sports Annexe)

All interested players to contact Colin Sta Maria (colin.stamaria@cimb.com) by 6 Sept.

The game will be at 5pm, followed by dinner with our friends from KL Bar.
