RSC Over-50's Hockey Fest

The RSC Over-50's Hockey Fest will be held on the 11th December 2010 ( Saturday ) at the RSC Annexe ground, Mont Kiara. It will be a half day event starting at 9.00am and is fully self-funded. A total of 8 veteran teams will be taking part, among them PSC, Ipoh 30-50's, Kelab Aman, Harlequins (Australia) and a few others. There will be a fellowship lunch at the Dewan Tan Sri Hamzah after the event and those interested to join in, kindly contact our hockey Convenor Mr. James Sia. As mentioned earlier, this being a self-funded event, the section will also be needing some volunteers to assist us in certain areas ( umpiring, score keepers ) and those available to assist, please contact section secretary K. Mohan.

SHAKY START FROM OUR BOYS

Our mens hockey team started their KLHA Div 3 League campaign with an unconvincing win over a young KL Under-14 boys at the Pantai Hockey Stadium yesterday evening. The fitter and faster boys from the KLHA Development Project gave the more experienced RSC side a run for their money with their never say die attitude and all out attacking display. RSC took an early lead off their first attempt at goal but the KL boys fought back to draw level shortly after the restart. Our men recovered from the setback and scored 4 quick goals within a space of 15 mins to take a comfortable lead only to allow our opponents to steal their second goal just before the interval. The second half saw the Kl Boys controlling play and most of the action was taking place in the RSC goalmouth. RSC's German keeper Ingo made a number of crucial saves to deny the Kl side from making a comeback. Ingo was finally beaten from a well struck shot off a penalty corner and the score stayed at 5 - 3 until the final whistle. However, it was a well and hard earned 3 points for our RSC men.

KLHA League 2010 - Division 3

The KLHA League for Division 3 will be starting this Friday, 12th November 2010. Our first game will be against the KL Under 14 Boys at the KLHA Pantai Stadium on the 12th Nov at 7.00pm. We managed to qualify for the final last year, finishing as runner-up after a thrilling game against Goodwood. Lets hope we go one better by winning the title this time around.

Malacca Hockey Carnival

RSC will be taking part in the Malacca Hockey Carnival which will be held on Saturday, 27th November 2010 at the Bukit Serindit Hockey Stadium, Malacca. 4 teams will be taking part in this quadrangular which will also feature Malacca Tigers, MAS Aircrew and HIFI Hockey Club. It will be a one day affair where a league format will be played. Those interested to tag along kindly inform our Convenor Mr.James Sia latest by 31st October.

Stadium Booking Cancellation

Kindly be advised that there will be no hockey on the 7th & 14th October due to cancellation of stadium booking. All section members please take note.

RSC play Bridesmaid's role again

Our boys once again had to play second fiddle to Ipoh Lads at the PSC Stanford Hockey Fest at the PSC grounds in Penang last weekend. In the final, the veteran Ipoh side defeated RSC 2-0 to successfully defend their title. Nevertheless, our players should hold their heads up high for going all the way to the final once again despite having a number of players who's age were 50 years above. This tournament allows players who are 40 years and above to participate and most of the players from Ipoh Lads were in the 40 - 45 age range. Congrats to the team for making us proud once again and it just goes to show that age is just a number.
